Yasmine Fulena, Chair
An International Economics major in the School of Foreign Service Class of 2008 and a candidate for the Karl F. Landegger Program of International Business Diplomacy, Yasmine is interested in implementation of development policies in developing economies in addition to the role of the private and legal sector in this implementation. She studied abroad during her junior year at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, France. Upon graduation, she is looking to either study development and economic law or work in either consulting or teaching.
Sung Kim, Public Relations Chair
Sung is currently a senior in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University studying International Economics. She is particularly interested in the international financial markets and economic development. She grew up in Seoul, Korea and moved to Connecticut in 2000, where she went to a boarding school. Sung spent a summer abroad in London School of Economics before her junior year. She is fluent in English and Korean and also studying Japanese. While still uncertain of her plans after graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in the U.S. or Hong Kong.
Stacey Droms, Recruitment Chair
Stacey Droms is a senior Political Economy major. Last year, she spent five months living and studying development economic policy in Senegal. Stacey has also pursued her economic policy interests while researching at the President's Council of Economic Advisers. Next year, she is planning to work at Goldman Sachs in their Legal Department.
Kory Kantenga, Speaker Chair
A sophomore in the School of Foreign Service, Kory Kantenga is an International Economics major concentrating in growth, development, and transition. His interests include Europe demographic transition and development of Northern Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East. He hopes to study abroad next year in the UK or an Arab nation to conduct research and develop a fluency in Arabic and French. Kory also wants to study the intersection of philosophy and economics, following the work of Amartya Sen.
Michael Kunkel, Development Chair
Michael Kunkel is a senior International Economics major in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He is also pursuing a certificate in the Justice and Peace Studies Program. His academic interests include issues related to economic development focusing on inequalities within the Asia-Pacific region. During his junior year, he studied Latin American economics and history in Santiago, Chile at La Universidad de Chile and La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. After graduating, he hopes to work abroad conducting poverty-based research in a developing country.
LiJia Gong, Carroll Round Proceedings Editor-in-Chief
LiJia Gong is a senior International Political Economy major in the Walsh School of Foreign Service. She is also working towards a Certificate in Women's and Gender Studies. Her academic interests include economic development and the intersection of gender and economics. She is hoping to pursue research in economics beyond Georgetown after graduation. In her spare time she enjoys drinking tea and dancing, but not at the same time.
Sue Bai, Logistics Chair
Sue J. Bai is an International Economics major in the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service Class of 2008. Her academic interests are in international trade and development, particularly relating to growth and industrialization policies. Sue attended school in the U.S. and South Korea and spent her junior year abroad reading Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford University. After graduation, she will be attending law school to pursue her interest in international trade law and negotiations.
Brandon Feldman, Alumni Relations Chair
Brandon is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences and will be graduating with a degree in Economics. He has studied a broad range of subjects at Georgetown but is mainly focused on the role of financial markets in the international economy. Brandon spent a semester during his junior year studying economics at University College London in London, England. He is looking forward to meeting all of the participants of the 2008 Carroll Round. Following graduation Brandon will be working CRA International in Washington, DC.
Fuyang Zhang, Treasurer
Fuyang “Abby” Zhang is a sophomore pursuing an International Economics Major in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown. She was born and raised in mainland China, and lived in Singapore for two years before she came to the United States for college in 2006. Since she is not able to return home often, she keeps track of the Asian financial market. In addition to this, she is also very interested in the foreign direct investment (FDI) of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China). She is thinking of pursuing a career in economics or finance, but would not be surprised if she became a lawyer after several years.
